El Hueco Shopping Center

The project for the Mercado Central cooperative, located in Lima’s Historic Center between Abancay and Piérola avenues, aimed to revitalize the area beyond the construction of a shopping center. Part of the site was allocated to a public plaza with green areas, while a façade setback expanded sidewalks and enhanced pedestrian permeability. This plaza became the main entrance, allowing natural light into the underground parking and organizing circulation axes by dividing the building into two volumes. The design is complemented by a pedestrian bridge connecting to Parque Universitario.
