Quinta Arrieta

This residential building is a contemporary interpretation of the quinta barranquina. In the traditional version, a series of houses open onto a shared corridor or courtyard; Quinta Arrieta combines communal patios with open circulation spaces. It also incorporates the zaguán, another element of historic Limeñan architecture: a transitional vestibule that is neither fully inside nor outside, usually marked by a tall, decorative gate. Here, it takes the form of a main door and an adjacent sliding screen that can be opened to extend the living room and connect it to the patios.
